C.A.R.E. Circle Group (CCG)
C.A.R.E Circle Groups (CCG)
A program offered as a direct service to schools for students, is the C.A.R.E. Circle Group (CCG). The CCG creates a space for girls grades 6th-10th to support and promote girl empowerment and teach within 4 specific and crucial topics that are critical for success during these years of growth and development. The topics of Community, Affirmation, Reflection and Education (C.A.R.E.) are taught for an hour, weekly, over 6 weeks. During the 6 sessions, a small group of girls (12 max) will engage in lessons surrounding the power of the C.A.R.E. topics.
Each session is led and facilitated by Ekuah Ramsey-Gilbert. Mrs. Ramsey-Gilbert comes with over 16+ years of experience in education where she has served as a Teacher, Counselor, Coordinator, and Administrator. However, her time as a high school counselor is what gave her clear insight into understanding the needs and challenges of young girls transitioning from middle school to high school. She noticed the lack of intentionality around supporting students in areas that could prepare and equip them with actions and language crucial to success with their peers and themselves.
Boys Council Group
A 10-week strengths-based group approach to promote boys’ and young men’s safe and healthy development. Boys will have fun while identifying social-emotional messages, experiences, attitudes, and smart options for growing up male in our culture. Competition, bullying, recognizing and expressing emotions, male and female role expectations, self confidence, and teamwork are highlighted through games and team challenges. Boys develop vocabulary and skills to expect and enact fairness, healthy competition, and respect for self and others.
Each of the 10 sessions is led and facilitated by trained facilitator Adam Gilbert. Mr. Gilbert has over 15 years experience with supporting young men. Through the Boys Council curriculum, Mr. Gilbert will help to teach accountability regarding real world issues and situations, while also naturing the needs of youth during their time of learning and growth.
